The Power of the Church
“Apart from Me you can do nothing" - John 15:5

Living the Christian life without the active participation of the Holy Spirit is impossible. Pentecost was the church's birthday, and it was the power and activity of the Holy Spirit that brought the church into being.

The greatest thing that can be said about any church is that it is filled with people who are full of the Holy Spirit. There is no saved member of the church of Jesus Christ that does not have the Holy Spirit living inside of him or her.

The Word of God is designed to lead us to experience His supernatural power for holy living and ministry. Unless the Holy Spirit is filling the people on the platform and in the pews, the result will ultimately be church as usual. I don't know about you, but I don't want to settle for the usual. I want to see God's wind and fire sweep through His church as He fills us with Himself through the work of the Spirit.

Jesus told the woman at the well that God the Father is seeking people who will worship Him "in spirit and truth" (John 4:23). These are the kind of people on whom God is eager to pour out His power and blessings through the ministry of the Holy Spirit. This is the kind of church God wants us to be, so we can know the Spirit's power for ourselves and turn this world upside down for Him, just like the early church did.

Blessings,
